Demolition of two houses along Trinity Drive will get underway in the next week. This is the first step in a bigger project the County hopes to undertake in future years to eventually improve the alignment of 35th Street with the Trinity and 36th Street intersections.
The houses located at 3661 and 3689 Trinity Drive were purchased by the County in 2003 and a demolition contract was awarded to Paul Parker Construction last month. The contractor began installing fencing and started asbestos abatement activities this week. The actual demolition is expected to begin later this month.
The project budget is $76,956. The demolition work includes the abatement of hazardous materials and the demolition and disposal of the houses, sheds, concrete and asphalt paving. The contractor is required to perform air monitoring during abatement activities to ensure safe operations. The sidewalk along Trinity Drive will remain in place. The site will be planted next spring with native grasses. The contractor will also be required to maintain storm water best management practices until adequate vegetation is achieved.
The project should be substantially completed by February 2010.
