In the second week of Duke City Soccer League action, the U12 girls Hotshots had a huge win, posting a 5-0 victory over the Hot Tamales.
Teamwork was the name of the game for the Hotshots, with four different girls scoring the five goals — Anna Lemke, Amy Littleton, Alix Haley and Leah Wolfsberg.
Alissia Hagenstadt was the big playmaker, using her speed and agility to create opportunities and assist on 3 of the 5 goals.
Gloria Torres and Wolfsberg, as goalkeepers, led the Hotshots to their first shutout this season.
Also last week, the U14 girls Kixx 99 battled the NM Sting to a 0-0 tie.
In boys competition, the U12 LAFC Celtics posted a solid 2-1 win over the Alameda SC Villa Real Lobos.
The Celtics played an outstanding game on defense with Jared Carnes, Donovan Atencio and Jack Vandenkieboom shutting down a strong Alameda offense.
Offensively, Jacob Castille and Gabriel Holesinger each scored a goal for the Celtics in the win.
The U12 LAFC Atomic City 2001 dropped the NM Rush Azuri 5-2 to notch its first win of the season.
The U13 Lasers 2000 played two games, beating the Rio Aztecs 4-0 in the first game and blanking the U14 Rio Reapers 1-0 in the second game.
