The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos will host Home-School College Day from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 13. The event is open to students in grades seven through 12, and their families. College officials ask that those planning to attend to RSVP in order to ensure there will be sufficient food and information packets on hand.
The event begins in the Student Center, with a welcome speech from Executive Director Dr. Cedric Page. Students and family will take a tour of campus and sit in on mini-lectures from the professors of some of the classes UNM-LA offers regularly.
The College Day will take place along with a Student Government mixer for UNM-LA students, called “Explore Your Future.” At this mixer, faculty will have displays and information from their departments on the degree programs offered and the career paths in each field. A wide variety of studies will be represented: fine arts, fire science, business, math, health science, engineering, computer technology, communications and applied technologies.
Advisors from UNM in Albuquerque will also be on campus to meet with students pursuing bachelor’s degrees.
Questions and RSVPs can be made by calling Grace Willerton at 661-4690.
