Historical document retrieval project meets

A public meeting by the study team for the Los Alamos Historical Document Retrieval and Assessment Project will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cities of Gold Nambé Conference Room, 10-A Cities of Gold Road in Pojoaque.

The nine-year-old examination of records related to radiological and chemical releases at Los Alamos National Laboratory is a project of the Centers for Disease Control under a contract with ChemRisk Inc. Tom Widener of ChemRisk is the project director.

The meeting is open to the public, limited only by the space available. The meeting room accommodates approximately 200 people.

Along with an update of the project’s achievements and activities for the year and plans for next year, the meeting will include a photographic display and brief presentation by Peter Malmgren of Chimayó regarding his “Los Alamos Revisited” oral history project.

A representative of the Radiation Exposure Screening & Education Program (RESEP) has also been invited to review the goals and activities of that program. Administered by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration, RESEP helps individuals who live (or lived) in areas where U.S. nuclear weapons testing occurred.

There will be time for public input, questions and comments.
