Exploring new places and cultures can be alluring to many people; for Kristina Parrack, a freshman at Los Alamos High School, the attraction of traveling is about to be experienced.
Parrack will be stepping into her traveling shoes as a participant in the People to People Student Ambassador Program.
She will be taking the Celtic Cultures Tour, which will begin June 8 and finish June 26. During those 18 days, Kristina will visit England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Highlights of the trip include seeing the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace in London, getting to the know the guards at the Tower of London and receiving an insider’s perceptive from members of Parliament, Kristina’s mother, Cari, said.
Other activities include repelling down a castle wall in Wales and participating in a home stay in Ireland, she said.
“We do a lot of activities that help build self-confidence, Kristina said.
Kristina became aware of the program after she found out that someone had nominated her to be a participant. She said she does not know who was the nominee.
After learning about her nomination, Kristina attend an informational meeting on Aug. 7, 2008 and learned she had been accepted Oct. 15, 2008.
