Area stores, charitable organizations and classmates are helping the Landon family – who lost everything they own in a house fire Tuesday morning. Bobbie Landon and her two daughters were at work and school when their side of a duplex on Fairway ignited in what fire officials say appears to have started in the home's in-floor heating system.John Roberts, manager at the Los Alamos Smith's Food and Drug Center, told of an organization that came in his store to purchase a supply of food for the Landons. “We gave them a 30-percent discount off the price of the food they purchased to help the family,” Roberts said.Metzger’s Do-It-Best, where Landon works, is offering a 20-percent discount to customers who buy regularly priced items for the family through the end of the year.“We implemented the program Thursday at the Los Alamos and White Rock stores,” co-owner Greg Metzger said.
