Professor Ralph Lewis, painter and teacher, will present new watercolors and drawing at the Weyrich Gallery/The Rare Vision Art Galerie, titled, “Renewal of Grand Country.” The show will open with a reception from 5-8:30 p.m. Friday at 2935 D Louisiana Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.
Zane Bennett Contemporary Art announces the exhibition of James Harvard, “Staying Ahead of the Beast.” This exhibit spans 40 years of painting with an emphasis on his “Abstract Illusionist” era, featuring paintings, archival boxes and sculptures dating from the late 1970s to 2012. The show opens June 29, with a reception from 5-7 p.m. at 435 S. Guadalupe St.
Book signings
Join author Michael McGarrity for a discussion of the research underpinning his latest book, “Hard Country,” a novel documenting a family’s struggle to settle in the untamed territory of New Mexico. McGarrity will speak at 2 p.m. Sunday in the History Museum Auditorium and sign copies of his book afterward. The event is free with admission. Sundays are free to New Mexico residents.
