The Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers gymnastics team opened its season at home Oct. 23 hosting four other teams.
The meet consisted of gymnasts in levels 3-6. In all, 82 gymnasts participated in the meet, which was held at the Los Alamos School of Gymnastics on North Mesa.
The meet marked the opening of the 2010-11 compulsory season.
Los Alamos’ Alyssa Hilger, a level 4 gymnast, earned the top mark of the meet. She recorded a score of 36.20 to win the 10-year-old division.
To pick up her meet-topping mark, Hilger scored a 9.25 on the balance beam, a 9.00 on the vault, an 8.85 on floor exercises. She won all three evens and finished second in the fourth event, the parallel bars, falling only to teammate Bridget Toone.
Toone, for her part, was third all-around in the age-division with a score of 34.25.
Toone received a 9.15 on the parallel bars to win that event. She also received a score of 8.70 on vault, good enough for third place, 8.55 on floor, which placed her fifth, and a 7.85 on balance beam, which put her sixth overall.
Ashley Bustos was fifth in that same age division, scoring a 32.90. Bustos was second in vault (8.75), third on bars (8.85), fifth on beam (7.90) and ninth on floor (7.40).
