Janet Foster tended her resignation as Probate Judge after being appointed to the position of Los Alamos County Clerk. She will replace Mary Pat Kraemer, who resigned.

Four members of the County Council voted for Foster and three voted for Lynne Johnson, a retired technical writer for Los Alamos National Lab. Ann Cooke, also applied, but didn’t receive any votes and was not present at the Council meeting.

As Probate Judge, Foster already works in the County Clerk’s Office, and has served as the Deputy County Clerk for three years.

Foster wrote in her application letter to the council, “I believe I could work with the Clerk’s staff to provide a seamless transition to fulfill Ms. Kraemer’s term as County Clerk.  Ironically, I had intended to run for this position in 2012.”

Council Chairman Michael E. Wheeler gave Foster the oath of office and the appointment is effective immediately.
