The 2008 Empty Bowls Project, held each year to benefit the local nonprofit organization, Self Help Inc., is underway.This will mark the Empty Bowl Project’s 15th year of providing bowls and a silent auction, hosting a soup and bread lunch and entertainment all for a price of $10 for each bowl. This is Self Help’s major fundraiser for the year.Joyce Nickols, the Empty Bowls Project coordinator, and local artists Patty Kokesh, Barbara Eberhart and Anne Freeman Gallimore, have poured and fired nearly 500 bowls that wait to be decorated in a community-painting workshop.The workshop will be held from 10 a.m.- noon Sunday at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 2390 North Road.Adults must accompany children younger than 12, no childcare will be provided.Interested painters can drop in anytime during the workshop to paint one or many bowls. All materials will be provided.The artists will be on hand to give suggestions, help with ideas, and show how to achieve wonderful results. All bowls will be glazed and then sold during the Empty Bowls Soup and Bread lunch from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. March 8 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The workshop is free and the Empty Bowl Project staff appreciates the community’s gift of time to help raise money for Self Help. Self Help, Inc.
