Los Alamos Choral Society is bringing the community a few sweets – both audible and edible.
The society is hosting its Spring Fling at 3 p.m. May 16 on the lawn of the United Church of Los Alamos. Additionally, the concert will hit the road for the town of Cochiti Lake. The show will begin at 1 p.m. May 31 in Cochiti. At the conclusion of each concert, ice cream will be served.
A few songs on the program may sound familiar such as “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” or the rousing medley of greatest hits from Broadway by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Some of songs will take listeners back in time; folk songs will take them home again, pop songs will return listeners to their youth and some songs will simply reflect the beauty and wonder of spring. Other pieces will be new to you including Gerald Finzi’s “My Spirit Sang All Day” and Randall Stroope’s “Omnia Sol.”
Wendy Swanson, a member of the choral society commented, “We really just have fun during our spring concert.”
She added, “We are very impressed with how the Los Alamos Community supports music and music events. It makes it gratifying to be a part of the choral society.”
Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door and at Brownell’s Hallmark.
