Hear Christmas tunes from around the world Sunday

-A A +A
By Special to the Monitor

“Jingle Bells”, “Joy to the World”, “Silent Night” – these are all well-known Christmas carols that people sing in the United States (or at least that have been adopted). But what about other countries? At 2 p.m. Sunday in the Betty Ehart Senior Center, The Los Alamos Community Winds, under the direction of Ted Vives, will answer that question musically with a concert entitled “Christmas Around the World.”While there will be the traditional melodies that everyone knows and loves, the LACW will be performing medleys of German carols, English carols and even a set of Calypso inspired carols during this annual event.“When selecting the music for a Christmas concert, it is always difficult to avoid playing the exact same music year after year,” Vives said. “Although part of the appeal of such concerts is that familiarity, it is also nice to throw in some variety.
