Think Halloween just lasts a day? Not this year; the ghoulish celebration spreads out the whole weekend. Halloweekend, begins with Trick or Treat on MainStreet from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Although this event has been held for more than eight years, Jeremy Varela, events and marketing coordinator for the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corp., said a few new elements are being introduced to the program this year.
“We’re really excited about this,” he said.
The event will have a whole new atmosphere and everyone is encouraged to come and check it out.
One of the factors that is being enhanced are the youth programs. Varela said more are being added this year; the Los Alamos High School’s Olions Thespian Club is participating in Trick or Treat on MainStreet along with New Mexico Dance Theater.
Also the event’s appearance is getting an upgrade. Varela said more decorations will be displayed.
Sponsors for the event include Los Alamos National Bank, Buffalo Thunder, Southwest Office Solutions and Stewart Central Title.
In short, Varela said the MainStreet event is more spectacular and will leave a bigger impression.
Even without the additions, Varela said the event has also always been a popular event.
“I think primarily because how safe it is to go trick or treating.”
