Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers traveled to Taos Nov. 15 to compete against gymnasts from Kimela’s Gymnastics of Los Lunas, Castle Gymnastics of Colorado, Boardwalk Gymnastics of Belen and the Taos All-Stars in the Artist Invite.
In the morning session 30 level 3 and level 4 gymnasts competed and in the afternoon 32 gymnasts competed in levels 5 through 7.
In the first session Luvina Lucero of Los Alamos scored the highest all-around total of the day, winning the level 4 competition with a 36.50.
Lucero finished more than two full points above the second-place gymnast. She took first-place on floor exercise, scoring a 9.20, first-place on balance beam with a 9.15, first on parallel bars with a 9.10 and second on vault with a 9.05.
Also in level 4 competition, Sydney Schake was third with an all-around score of 34.35.
Schake placed second on beam with an 8.75, tied with Lucero for second on vault with a 9.05, was third on floor with an 8.55 and eighth on bars with an 8.00.
Jenna Weatherbie was eighth all-around with 32.60. She finished fifth on vault (8.85), seventh on beam (8.20), and 10th on both bars (7.65) and floor (7.90).
Jackie Cooke finished 11th all-around with a 31.90, earning second on bars (8.90) and eighth on beam (8.10).
