For the second straight time, the Los Alamos School of Gymnastics’ Alyssa Hilger was the high all-around point-getter.
The LASG Atomic Tumblers competed in the Wild Horse Invitational Nov. 20-21, held in Los Lunas. In all, 12 teams and 180 gymnasts took part in the event.
Hilger, who was the top overall finisher at the Trick or Treat Meet in Santa Fe last month, duplicated that feat in Los Lunas. Hilger scored a 36.45 in the level 4, 10-year-old division.
At the competition, Hilger won three of the four individual events, taking victories in the vault (8.75), parallel bars (9.35) and balance beam (9.20), as well as finishing second in floor exercise (9.15).
In team competition, Los Alamos took third in both the level 4 and level 5 sessions, two of the three levels they competed in. Team scores are calculated by adding the top three individual scores from each event for each team.
To get the top team score in level 4, Hilger was aided by teammates Elizabeth Lockhart and Ramya Stevens. The two finished sixth and seventh overall.
In level 5, Jenna Weatherbie was fourth, Carley Stillwell finished sixth and Katrina Vinyard was 13th overall. Weatherbie was the top scorer in the vault and tied with Stillwell for second in floor exercise.
