BURGE – After recently accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, Gordon M. Burge left to be with his heavenly Father on Jan. 17, 2008. Gordon passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Arroyo Seco. He was 84.Gordon was born in Clay Center Nebraska on Aug. 3, 1923, to Percy and Lillian Burge. After graduating from Reserve High School in Reserve Kansas, Gordon entered the Untied States Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war Gordon returned to Nebraska and started working for a local linen cleaning company in Hastings, Neb., where he met his future wife Ivadell Mumby. Marrying in 1954, Gordon and Ivadell continued working in Hastings with Gordon working at the ammunition depot. After reading a “help wanted” ad at the ammunition depot, Gordon and family along with several other men and their families moved to Los Alamos, N.M., to begin a career as a security guard for the Atomic Energy Commission in 1957. Both Gordon and Ivadell worked many years for the government, retiring in the early 1980s.After retiring Gordon and Ivadell moved to Albuquerque and the Edgewood, N.M., area for a couple of years before moving back to Hastings, Neb. In 1989, Gordon and Ivadell moved to Grove, Okla. In July 1990, Ivadell suddenly passed away.
