ALBUQUERQUE — Drew Gordon had 13 points and 14 rebounds and New Mexico clamped down defensively Wednesday night to defeat Colorado State 85-52.
Gordon, who posted his 11th game with double figures in points and rebounds, also contributed three assists, three blocks and two steals to help the Lobos (16-4, 2-2 Mountain West) recover from losses to conference rivals No. 13 San Diego State and No. 12 UNLV.
Will Bell, Wes Elkmeier and Dorian Green each scored 11 points for the Rams (13-6, 2-2) in losing a second straight conference road game by double digits.
New Mexico, which never trailed, shot 58 percent in the first half in building a 47-29 lead. They finished the night at 52 percent.
Already up 26-17 with nine minutes left in the first half, the Lobos went on a 19-4 run that featured points from seven players.
The Rams committed 20 turnovers and shot just 37 percent from the field. They made only 3 of 14 from 3-point range.
Four Lobos reached double figures, with Phillip McDonald and Tony Snell scoring 12 while Jamal Fenton had 10 points and six assists.
