The Republican Party of Los Alamos held its County Quadrennial Convention Wednesday evening in the Trinity on the Hill Parish Hall.
“We were entitled to select seven delegates and seven alternates to go to the state Republican Party Quadrennial Convention June 14 in Las Cruces,” said longtime Republican leader JoAnn Johnson, who also serves as Los Alamos County Assessor.
The seven delegates elected Wednesday evening include Johnson, Jeannette Wallace, Steve Stoddard, Barbara Stoddard, Marie Todd, Veronica Rodriguez and Mary Brooks.
Four alternates were elected including Ron Dolin, Vincent Chiravalle, Francine Mendoza and Bettie Kerr.
The state quadrennial convention in Las Cruces is scheduled to be held in the Oñate High School Performing Arts Center, Johnson said, adding that its purpose is threefold:
• to elect delegates and alternates to go to the 2008 Republican National Convention Sept. 1-4 in Minneapolis;
• to elect presidential electors to serve on the electoral college; and
• to elect the national committee man and woman from New Mexico to serve on the national committee.
