It was quite a July 2010 for Curt Norman.
Norman, one of the top golfers in Los Alamos County, had perhaps the best month of his amateur career last year by finishing second at the Atomic City Invitational and winning the Los Alamos City Championship, the first City tournament win of his career.
Meanwhile, at the City tournament, Martinson picked up her second straight title, holding off charges from past champions Barbara Schmitt and Ev Griggs.
Martinson shot an 83 in day two, quickly erasing Schmitt’s two-stroke lead to win. Martinson said she spent much of last off season working out her shoulders to help give her more length off the tee.
For Norman, he knocked out defending champ Lee Sanchez at the ACI before running into a buzzsaw in the final, in the form of Parker Ashton.
At the City event, Norman held off a charge by brother Jason to win.
the defending tournament champ, to win on the fifth sudden death playoff hole.
