Local golfer Jeff Brown had a big showing on consecutive days at the Northern New Mexico Senior Men’s Golf Association’s tournaments at Pagosa Springs, Colo.

Brown and partner Buzz Burke of Pagosa Springs took top honors in the first flight of the NNMSMGA’s 2-man scramble June 15. Brown followed that up by taking the first flight victory June 16.

Both tournaments were held at Pagosa Springs Golf Club.

Brown and Burke fired a 68 in the scramble event, which earned them the tiebreaker over the team of Bob Sherman and Lee Repassy for the tournament title. Brown also had the closest shot to the pin on the club’s Piñon No. 3 hole.

The following day, Brown’s score of 77 in the first flight of stroke play put him three shots ahead of Santa Fe’s Maurice Bonal.

Also in the June 15 scramble, Ed Joyce and Don Ford combined to shoot a 70 in first flight competition, placing that team third overall.

Don Pompeo of Los Alamos finished second in gross score in the third flight of stroke play.
