Golfers who were teed off about the rough winter weather now can tee off at Los Alamos Golf Course.LAGC will be opening for the season Thursday and will be open daily, barring any late winter snowstorms. Tee times can be scheduled with the course’s pro shop.Course professional Dennis McCloskey said final preparations were being made today for Thursday’s opening.“The golf course looks like it came out of the winter in good shape,” McCloskey said. “There are still patches of snow, but it’s pretty playable.”Snow on the course was removed not only by LAGC’s maintenance department but also by this weekend’s rainfall.Today, crews were busy removing branches and placing pins on greens.McCloskey said local golfers, who had to resort to driving to Albuquerque and points south for the winter, are itching to get back on their home course.“It’s nice after a long, snowy winter,” he said. “Everyone’s ready to get going. Cabin fever was starting to set in for some of them.”LAGC is finalizing its tournament schedule for the year. The first event of the season is the Los Alamos Spring Invitational prep tournament in April. For more information or to schedule a tee time, call the pro shop at 662-8139.
