HARRY – Glenn Robert Harry, age 83, passed away May 26, 2008, in Deland, Fla. He and his wife Gwendolyn lived in Los Alamos, N.M., for 32 years. In 2004, they moved to a retirement community in Florida.
Glenn Robert Harry was born May 8, 1925, in Oakland, Calif. Glenn served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and is a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University in 1962. Glenn retired from the military as lieutenant colonel after serving 23 years. He was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart among other distinguished service awards. Glenn worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a nuclear engineer for 11 years. He retired permanently in 1986.
Glenn met his wife, the love of his life, Gwendolyn, while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. They married March 22, 1952, and lived where the Air Force sent them, which included a tour in Germany. They moved to Los Alamos in 1972, where they agreed the beautiful mountains and wonderful climate would provide a great place to live.
