The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls tennis team scored another solid victory over the Santa Fe Demons in a dual match Wednesday.
The Hilltoppers swept all six singles matches to top the Demons 8-1 at Santa Fe. The Hilltoppers dropped just one set in their singles match wins and swept two of the three doubles contests as well.
Los Alamos’ No. 1 singles player Colleen Fitzsimmons coasted to a 6-2, 6-2 won over Greta Miller, while No. 2 Gillian Hsieh-Ratliff earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cecilia Pacheco in their contest. The two teamed up to play in the No. 1 doubles spot, earning that victory as well.
The win for Los Alamos was the second in five days against Santa Fe. Los Alamos topped Santa Fe 9-0 at the District 2-4A seeding tournament Friday, also in Santa Fe, a match Hilltopper head coach Bruce Cottrell said was the most important of that tournament for his team.
Los Alamos has just one more regular season contest remaining, that coming Tuesday against St. Michael’s. It will compete in the 2-4A tournament, its one and only chance to qualify for state, April 29-30.
