Shanna Riciputi had three goals to lead the Hilltopper girls soccer team in their first meeting with Capital High this year.
An 8-0 lead at half time, took a lot of the suspense out of the game Tuesday.
Lindsay Benage had two goals, including the 10th point of the match, taking the girls to a 10-0 victory.
The other six points were scored by Kelsey Neal, Clare Charsley-Groffman, Amelia Neal Keanna Cohen and Feliz Pacheco.
The team now stands 4-0 in district and 11-3 overall. They play second-place Taos Saturday.
“If we beat them Saturday,” said Jiri Kubicek, Hilltopper girls head coach, “We’ve essentially won the championship.”
He said the starters were taken out at the end of the first half in the game against Capital.
The team scrimmaged against the C-team boys Wednesday, Kubicek said.
They play second-place Taos on Saturday, a team with a 3-0 record in district and 11-4 in conference play.
The two teams met on Sept. 22 when Los Alamos came away with an 8-0 victory.
Having scored at least six or more goals in every game so far, Kubicek said the team is working hard to keep their competitive skills up; mindful of their seeding for championship play later this year.
