The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls soccer team again took a District 2AAAA opponent to the woodshed.
Los Alamos, which is well on its way to earning another district title, crushed the Capital Jaguars 10-0 at home Saturday. It closed out the contest just eight minutes to the second half via the mercy rule.
With the victory, Los Alamos remains a perfect 3-0 in district (6-8 overall) and is halfway to clinching a berth to the Class AAAA state tournament.
The Hilltoppers scored seven times in the first half Saturday at Sullivan Field, then scored the game’s final three goals in a three minute span, including the final two within a few seconds of each other.
Los Alamos head coach Jiri Kubicek said he would’ve liked to see his team get out to a little quicker start than it did against Capital, but he was glad his team turned it on midway through the second half and didn’t have any letdowns.
Hilltopper Amy Neal scored four goals, three in a seven-minute span during the first half, and was credited with an assist on a goal by Shannon Blair. Lindsay Benage scored twice, including popping in the game winner off a direct kick in the 48th minute, and earned an assist.
