The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls golf team fared no better on day two of the Ruidoso Invitational than it did on day one.
The Hilltoppers struggled again Tuesday at the tournament, their first of the spring season, shooting a team total of 405.
Only the Hilltoppers’ No. 1 player, Miranda Olinger, played better the second day than the first for the Hilltoppers. Olinger, who had an allergic reaction to seafood she’d eaten the night before Monday’s opening round, finished with a 90 in Tuesday’s second round, a 17-shot improvement.
The second round was played at Cree Meadows Golf Course in Ruidoso.
The Hilltoppers shot a total of 800 for the two days.
Shelby Fellows had a 103 Tuesday, followed by Morgan Vaughn’s 105, Aislinn McDonald’s 107 and Taylor Engleman’s 128.
Head coach Mike Lippiatt said he hopes his team will see where improvements need to be made and will work those out during practice this week in preparation for Monday’s Los Alamos Spring Invitational.
