The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls golf team earned its first leg of the season at Monday’s St. Pius X Invitational.

Los Alamos finished third at Monday’s tournament, which was played at Isleta Eagle Golf Course near Albuquerque.

The Hilltoppers finished third in team standings, posting their lowest team score of the fall, a 395.

Miranda Olinger had the low score of the day for Los Alamos, shooting a 91. That put her three shots ahead of teammate Tiffany Nasise.

Also for Los Alamos, freshman Miquela Baca posted a career-low 99 Monday.

Morgan Vaughn finished with 111 shots, while Brenna O’Hara had a 115 and Sarah McBride a 126.

“Placing third to the two 5A powerhouses, Sandia and La Cueva and beating last years state champs in 3A, Socorro, was a great showing,” Los Alamos head coach John McBride said. “We look forward to a productive off-season and with the historic improvements that accompany spring golf, we should be competitive for the state title this year.”

Monday was the final tournament of the fall golf season for the Hilltoppers.
