The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team dropped a nondistrict contest Friday night to the Albuquerque Academy Chargers.
Just three days after one of its better offensive performances of the season, a 50-33 win over the Taos Tigers, Los Alamos had its second lowest-scoring outing against the Chargers.
A good Hilltopper defensive showing against a solid Chargers’ squad was squandered in Friday night’s 33-29 loss at Academy.
Academy (10-8) for its part, was able to avenge a 51-44 loss at the hands of the Hilltoppers. That loss came Dec. 12 in the semifinals of Academy’s Joe Armijo Invitational tournament.
No other information about Friday’s game was available at press time.
Los Alamos (10-9) snapped a two game win streak — it had lost two straight prior to that — including its District 2AAAA debut over Taos.
It now must bounce back for a pair of district contests this season, Wednesday against a struggling Bernalillo squad and then a home date with Española Valley, its blood-feud rival and most likely challenger for the 2AAAA regular season title.
