Los Alamos’ Brian Geyer went 2-2 at a national wrestling tournament last weekend.
Geyer, a senior at Los Alamos High School, split two contests against some tough opponents at the tournament, held in Virginia Beach, Va.
He pinned a top finisher in this year’s prep season from Utah, and also won a decisive 14-2 win over a runner-up from South Carolina in this year’s tournament.
Virtually everyone competing at the national meet was there either by invitation or because they had place among the tops in their state championship tournaments this year.
Geyer, of course, is the 2-time state champion from Los Alamos. He won at 170 pounds after the 2012-13 season, then won the 195-pound state title this season.
This year’s tournament was the second he’s taken part in. Geyer went 3-2 at Virginia Beach last year.
