What is a Stay-cation? Have you ever gone on a vacation and come home more tired than when you left?
How about returning home and discovering that you spent more money than you thought?
Now that’s a rude surprise.
With a Stay-cation you will experience the rest and relaxation of a vacation, but your family will be close to home and you won’t spend a dime.
There's no cooking for Mom and Dad either.
The Christian Church is hosting just such an event.
From 5:30-8:30 p.m. June 16-18, the families of Los Alamos are welcome to join in the fun. Dinner and dessert will be provided along with some dramas about daily life and music to lift your spirit.
The Rev. Doug Partin said, “Many families in our area would like to take a vacation this summer, but just can’t afford the time away from work or the expense.
"These three evenings are designed to provide quality time for families to spend together in a relaxed atmosphere. The Christian Church of Los Alamos invites the families of our community to join us in celebrating life by taking a Stay-cation with our church family.”
On June 16, participants will enjoy working together to build and decorate their own model cars and then get to race them in a pinewood derby.
June 17, they’ll give something back to the local community by doing oil changes on the cars belonging to single parents and elderly couples.
In addition, participants will wash cars and kids of all ages can try out the giant bounce house.
On June 18, families will take their Stay-cation just up the road to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Lodge to enjoy dinner and a campfire. Participants will need their sense of adventure for an outdoor scavenger hunt.
The Christian Church is located at 92 East Road. Individuals and families interested in participating can call 662-6468 for more information.
