Kory Balog was named Offensive Player of the Year by the members of District 2AAAA for the 2010 football season.
Balog, a senior for the Los Alamos Hilltopper football team, was among the top rushers and passers in his senior season from the quarterback spot. Under new head coach Garett Williams, Balog led the team to a runner-up finish in 2AAAA this season.
Los Alamos finished with a record of 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the district, finishing one game behind Bernalillo, which posted a perfect 4-0 district record.
With his title of Offensive Player of the Year, Balog becomes the third player in a row from Los Alamos to achieve that honor. Raul Rodriguez was named top offensive player in the district in 2008 and Ryan Schleft picked up the honor in 2008.
Bernalillo linebacker Joradn Ludi, one of the hardest-hitting players in 2AAAA, was named Defensive Player of the Year while Ken Noel, guiding a program on the brink of extinction to its second-straight district title, was give the Coach of the Year award.
Los Alamos placed eight players on the first team roster this season, including a pair of sophomores, Grant Washburn and Arnoldo Ortiz. Los Alamos also had five different players get second team honors and two other players pick up Honorable Mentions.
