* ARROYO AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR... NORTH CENTRAL LOS ALAMOS COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO SOUTHEASTERN RIO ARRIBA COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO EXTREME NORTHEASTERN SANDOVAL COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO EXTREME NORTHWESTERN SANTA FE COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO

* UNTIL 300 PM MDT

* AT 1256 PM MDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN FROM SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS BETWEEN CANONES AND LOS ALAMOS. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING SLOWLY SOUTHEAST. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE THIRD TO ONE HALF INCH ARE POSSIBLE OVER PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN EXTENT OF THE LAS CONCHAS BURN SCAR... INCLUDING SANTA CLARA CANYON.

* STRONG FLOWS AND HIGH WATER LEVELS ARE EXPECTED IN ARROYOS... SMALL STREAMS AND OVER LOW WATER CROSSINGS. RAPID RUNOFF CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED IMMEDIATELY OVER AND DOWNSTREAM FROM WILDFIRE BURN SCARS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BOTH LOCALIZED AND DISTANT HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CREATE DANGEROUS FLOWS IN ARROYOS AND OVER LOW WATER CROSSINGS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH THESE WATERS. WATER IN ARROYOS MAY TRAVEL MANY MILES AND TAKE HOURS TO REACH YOUR LOCATION FROM UPSTREAM RAIN AREAS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
