Abiquiu Lake: Night fishing was fair to good using liver and hot dogs for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using top water lures, jerk baits, swim baits and tubes for smallmouth bass. A few walleye were caught by anglers using jig and craw and jig and curly tail combinations over 20 to 30 feet of water. We had no reports on other species.
Animas River: Water flow near Aztec Monday morning was 306cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing was fair to good using top water lures, crank baits and suspending jerk baits for tiger musky. Ken and Kathy Roberts of Tucson had a great time here mid-month. It was the highlight of a three-week trip, which included stops at Quemado, Cochiti and the Taos area lakes, and streams where they had a great time fishing, enjoying the scenery and meeting nice people. Ken caught and released 16 tiger musky with the biggest being 36 inches. He was using swim baits and spinner baits and fishing the east side of the lake. We had no reports of catfish or trout. Anglers should be aware that it is illegal to use baitfish at this lake.
Brazos River: Trout fishing was slow.
