Catches of the Week
Cochiti Lake: July 4, Lee Scott of Albuquerque caught and released a 36-inch, 10-pound northern pike. He was fishing from the bank and working the rocky shoreline with a Rooster Tail.
Elephant Butte Lake: July 6, Randy Campbell of Sandia Park caught and released a 5.19-pound largemouth bass. He was using a crank bait. Randy also reported catching several 3- to 4-pound walleye on crank baits.
Bluewater Lake: July 7, Nathan Pratt of Bernalillo and Valerie Tsosie of Albuquerque caught and released several tiger musky ranging from 24 to 36 inches. They were trolling a Strike King deep diver in a shad color.
Northeast
Cabresto Lake: The lake and campground closed May 14 and will stay closed for about six months while the dam is being rebuilt.
Charette Lakes: Fishing was fair using salmon eggs, Power Bait, jigs and worms for trout and perch.
Cimarron River: Hot spot for trout: Trout fishing continued to be very good this past week. Anglers did well using tricos, yellow sallies, elk hair caddis, spinners and worms. Water flow below Eagle Nest Lake as of Monday was 33 cfs. Fishing at the Gravel Pit lakes was fair using Pistol Petes and Power Bait.
