Cochiti Lake: May 9, Mike Gianfriddo of Albuquerque caught a 4.5-pound smallmouth bass. He was using a Mepps spinner.
Ute Lake: May 10, Kevin Smith of Clovis caught and released a 4.5-pound smallmouth bass. He was using a Rat-L-Trap and fishing in 15 feet of water.
Caballo Lake: May 11, Nathaniel Wysocki of El Paso caught a 6.02-pound walleye. He was trolling a white curly tail grub/spinner combination. His dad Steven caught a 5.7-pound walleye. He was casting a red craw colored Rat-L-Trap from the bank.
Rio Grande: May 11, Justin Spence of Montana and Argentina caught a 40-inch northern pike. He was using a chartreuse pike fly.
Northeast
Cabresto Lake: The lake and campground closed May 14 and will stay closed for about six months while the dam is being rebuilt.
Charette Lakes: Fishing was very good using Power Bait and small wet flies for limits of trout. Fishing was fair using worms and Power Bait for perch.
