Fishing Report 04-19-13

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, jigs and wooly buggers for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species. 

Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday was 141 cfs. Trout fishing was good using jerk baits, San Juan worms, copper John Barrs, nightcrawlers and salmon eggs. 

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week. 

Bluewater Lake: Fishing for tiger musky was a bit sporadic this past week. Best reports came from anglers jigging on the bottom. Jerk baits and swim baits produced a lot of short strikes. Fishing was slow to fair using Power Bait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp ranged from the high 40s to low 50s.

Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers. 

Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 251 cfs and 268 cfs respectively with the flow below Abiquiu expected to be over 500 cfs by Monday. Trout fishing at both locations was fair using nightcrawlers, salmon eggs, spinners and wooly buggers. Three generations of the Montano family had a recent outing below El Vado with G-pa Sid catching a 17-inch brown while using a Rapala.
