The Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild will sponsor the 2010 Quilt Market Oct. 16, during which quilted “treasures” will be up for sale.
Each year the LA Piecemakers Guild sponsors either a show or market in October. This year the Quilt Market will be presented at the Baptist Church in Los Alamos.
Bed quilts, table runners, placemats, wall hangings and wearables are just a few of the items that will be featured. In addition, there will be holiday quilted items that could make great gifts for friends and family.
Once again, Guild members have designed, pieced and put together a special quilt that will be raffled off at 3:30 p.m. This year the handmade quilt has been named, “In the Woods.”
“There are various community services and charities that the Los Alamos Piecemakers Guild supported through the raffle of our quilt,” Guild Vice President Margaret Hendricks said.
“We have helped battered women’s shelter; helped support the RSVP Quilters at the senior center; participated in the Million Pillowcase Challenge by making and donating colorful pillowcases for hospitals and shelters; and helped the Jemez Mountain Bear Paw Quilting Guild who makes quilts for New Mexico families of those killed in the Mideast.”
