Rene Bass Feldman died peacefully on Friday, September 26th, after a brief illness. Rene was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 12th, 1933. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1957 and a Master of Science degree in computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972.
Rene was a staff member at The Los Alamos National Laboratory before moving to Chevy Chase, MD, where she was a staff member at the University of Maryland. In addition to science, she enjoyed cooking, reading and discussing all things interesting.
One of Rene’s greatest accomplishments was her ability to genuinely love those around her and in return, she was deeply loved by so many throughout the world. Rene is survived by her husband of 53 years Donald Feldman, son Abe Feldman, daughter Jessica Feldman and son-in-law Don Scott.
A memorial will be held on Friday 10/10/08 at 10:30 a.m. at the University of Maryland Hillel, 7612 Mowatt Lane, College Park, MD, 20740 (301) 422-0178. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Rene’s name to JRS/The Howard Levin Clubhouse, 4905 Fifth Avenue, Suite #3, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
