Janet Bosarge of Los Alamos may not paint or photograph, but she does know the art of marketing. To help promote several local artists’ works and the work of visiting artists, Bosarge is hosting a fine arts party from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday at her home, located at 2326 Canyon Glen.

Artists whose works will show at the party include sculptor John Fleming of Kirkland, Wash., photographer Harry Clifford of Los Alamos, painter Stede Barber of Los Alamos, painter Beth Ferguson of Abquu and Barb Ruble of Washington.

Bosarge said she has hosted art parties in the past. “You meet interesting people and it’s fun,” she said.

Clifford and Fleming will be present at the party.

Plus it’s an opportunity to show off her marketing side. “I just enjoy promoting artists that I like,” Bosarge said. “There is something in me that likes marketing.”

Barber, who has participated in past art parties, said she is looking forward to the event, too. “The other events that I’ve done were always uplifting,” she said. “I come away feeling like I’ve eaten a really good meal. It’s a feast. A visual feast.”

In addition to art, participants can feast on edible items, too. Refreshments will be served throughout the event.

Some of the artists’ work may be familiar to Los Alamos residents. Fleming’s sculptures appeared in the Art Center at Fuller Lodge’s exhibit, “New Mexico: Land of Enchantment,” last year while Ruble’s work showed in September 2007 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Additionally, Barber said she done art since she was a child. “I started by painting rocks,” she said. “I’ve been painting professionally since my 20s.”

The New Mexico landscape really inspires her, Barber said. “I adore northern New Mexico,” she said. “It’s the colors – the color of the sky and the rich colors of the earth.”
