ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The family of a couple found dead inside their El Rancho home last summer are looking for answers and hoping that law enforcement will soon make an arrest in the case.

Cherie Ortiz-Rios says her family is struggling with the loss of her parents.

Lloyd and Dixie Ortiz, and their 21-year-old son Steven, were found dead on Father's Day. State Police initially thought the Ortiz's had been shot, but the medical examiner later determined they had been beaten with a pickax.

A State Police spokesman said Tuesday they were appealing to the public for help in solving the killings.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that next week, the Ortiz family plans to use a billboard on U.S. 84/285 between Pojoaque and Espanola to call attention to the killings.
