Fall sports teams get started soon

-A A +A
By The Staff

The 2014 fall sports season officially gets going this weekend at Los Alamos High School.
Los Alamos fall sports teams started practicing earlier this month and three of the five programs will be in action by the end of next week.
The Hilltopper girls soccer team, boys soccer team and football team will all get their season going by Aug. 29.
Los Alamos’ girls soccer team isn’t waiting that long, however. The Hilltoppers will play the Farmington Scorpions Saturday at noon in the Four Corners area.
The girls soccer program is one of two fall sports teams at the school with new coaches this year. Former All-American prep soccer player and former Los Alamos boys head soccer coach AJ Herrera officially starts his tenure Saturday.
Also new this year is Sharleen Espinoza to the Hilltopper volleyball program. Espinoza is a former assistant under the two most recent head coaches of the Hilltoppers, Garry Maskaly and Robin Reynolds.
Los Alamos’ football team, which began practice Aug. 4, will open at home Aug. 29 against the Pojoaque Valley Elks.
