Hilltopper Erin Kirk will represent the northern part of the state in this year’s All-Star girls basketball game.
Kirk, a standout senior for Los Alamos, was selected for the honor by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association. Selections were announced Monday.
To be considered for the All-Star teams, players must be graduating seniors.
Kirk helped Los Alamos to a 17-13 record this season and a berth in the Class 4A playoffs.
Los Alamos defeated Deming in the opening round before losing in the quarterfinal round to eventual champion Los Lunas.
This year’s North-South 4A/5A game will be played at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho. It’s scheduled for June 7.
In preparation for the game, Kirk will be working out alongside two longtime District 2-4A rivals. Capital’s Ashley Sorenson and Española Valley’s Lauren Quintana were also picked for the squad.
In all, five Class 4A players were chosen along with five Class 5A players.
Along with the three selections for District 2-4A in girls basketball, the 2-4A boys earned two selections. District Player of the Year Mikey Lopez of Capital and last year’s Player of the Year Brandon Saiz of Bernalillo were both honored with selections to the boys All-Star Game.
The boys 4A/5A game is set for Aug. 1 at Albuquerque High.
