To help honor the nation’s veterans Los Alamos National Laboratory employees are volunteering to place wreaths at gravesites in Santa Fe National.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, to be assigned sections within the cemetery.
Family members also are welcome and parking is available at the cemetery.
The 18th annual Wreaths Across America is an offshoot of Arlington National Cemetery’s annual laying of 5,000 holiday wreaths there.
“Wreaths Across America” raises awareness of deceased veterans buried in national cemeteries across the country.
Los Alamos National Security, LLC and SOC Los Alamos, LANL’s protective force contract company, each provided $1,500 to purchase wreaths.
Laboratory employees and subcontract personnel also purchased wreaths.
All told, 602 wreaths are being provided by LANS, SOC Los Alamos and Lab personnel.
The Community Programs Office is signing up additional volunteers — Contact Debbi Wersonick at 667-7870.
