Sue Elkins was tops at Tuesday’s Pace Race for the second week in a row.
This week’s Pace Race, hosted by the Atomic City Roadrunners, was the New Pipeline Gutbuster. The 1, 3 and 3.2-mile courses consist of rugged and steep paths in the Quemazon and Pipeline Road areas.
Elkins, competing on the 1-mile course, finished with a prediction error of 19 seconds — all predictions were adjusted to the 3.2-mile course. All of the top predictions from Tuesday were achieved on the short course.
Following Elkins, Patricia Burnside finished with an error of 32 seconds, while Paul Elkins was 42 seconds off.
The fastest finisher on the 1-mile course was Nathan Burnside, with his time of 8 minutes, 33 seconds. Patricia Burnside finished in 9:00.
On the longer courses, Laura McClellan (32:31), Roxana Candia (33:37) and Zachary Medin (34:39) were the fastest finishers.
In all, 21 walkers and runners competed this week. All finishers were treated to a Popsicle at the finish.
The next Pace Race is Tuesday starting at the North Mesa picnic area. Race time is 6 p.m. and 1- and 3-mile, stroller-friendly courses will be available.
