The first week of games started in the Duke City Soccer League last weekend for the Los Alamos Football Club boys and girls teams.
In the girls bracket, the U12 Hotshots ’01 earned a promotion match to move up
into a stronger division, but could only field 7 players.
Even playing down a player and without their normal goalkeepers, they proved to be a competitive match for the AYSO Inferno team.
The midfield combination plays between Anna Lemke, Alix Haley and Anna Rose Matuszak combined with the attacking plays of Alissia Hagenstad and Sydney Alexander helped the team stay competitive despite being shorthanded.
The Hotshots lost 3-0 without an experienced goalkeeper but are hoping to stay competitive with the teams in its new division.
In boys games, the U13 Lasers 2000 also earned a promotion match based
on its strong performance in the fall.
The Lasers tied the Rio Hammers 2-2, with goals scored by Cid Rice and Arthur Steinkamp.
Andres Runde was strong in midfield for the Lasers, while Devan Cantua and Ben Rees provided solid defense.
The U17 Lasers 96/97 turned in a big performance in their first match with no subs against a fully-rostered Santa Fe Northern team.
