The Duke City Soccer League is in full swing for the spring 2012 season. Los Alamos is well represented in the DCSL.
Here are the results from some of the Los Alamos teams playing in the league:
During the week of Feb.27, Los Alamos’ girls U13 Kixx 99 beat the Classic FC Titans 2-1 in a
relegation match to move up into the Challenge One bracket.
Goals for the Kixx were scored by Sienna Ahlers and Kayla Parker, while the win was secured through solid midfielding by Rachel Thoma and Alix Hailey and a strong defense led by Claire Ticknor and Ashley Logan.
Also that weekend, the U12 Kixx 2000 defeated the Classic FC Tamales 1-0.
Ashley Atencio scored off a crossing pass from Lauren Harris, while Ally Lakis helped to preserve the win.
The U11 Hotshots had a rough start losing in their first match to the AUFC Explosion.
In boys games that week, the U17 Cyclones beat the U16 NM Rush Nike 2-0.
Excellent teamwork and stellar defense helped them dominate the contest.
That win followed up on the Cyclones’ first-place finish at the Classic Cup two weeks earlier.
The U16 Lasers 96 won 2-0 against the Venom FC 96.
Jairo Marquez scored two goals and Tyler Mullen made several key saves in goal to preserve the shutout.
The U14 Lasers 98 lost a close one to the Rio Vista FC Strikers 1-0, while the U13 Lasers 99 lost soundly to the U14 Rio Vista FC Gunners.
Also that week, the U12 Lasers 2000 won their match by a count of 3-2 against Classic FC Force.
Kauru Shimada had a goal and an assist, while Cameron Art controlled the game at center midfield.
The U12 Celtics 2000 lost their first game of the season, 3-1, but tied their second 3-3.
Arthur Steinkamp scored all four goals for the Celtics in the two games.
The U11 Nukes 01 team lost their first game to the tough AUFC 01 Dragons.
In the second week of Duke City Soccer League action, the U14 boy’s Lasers98 picked up a big 7-0 against the NM Rush Arsenal.
Tristen Roach and Bryan Mujica scored twice-each, with additional goals scored by Jacob Holesinger, Sean Reynolds and Connor Bailey.
Assists were recorded by Danny Castano, Eric Burnside and Joe Singleton.
In U16 action, goalkeeper Chris Parker made multiple saves to help the U16 Lasers 96 preserve a scoreless tie against the NM Rush Swoosh.
The U17 Los Alamos Cyclones tied Alameda Atletico 1-1 in a hard fought battle.
The Cyclones went up 1-0 when Dallin Parker slotted a shot into the left corner after receiving a through ball from Nick Thoma.
Atletico tied the game with 10 minutes remaining.
