On July 11, the Los Alamos American Legion Post 90 and American Legion Riders (ALR) Chapter 13 presented to Mrs. Jay Andersen (middle) donations for the Lt. Micah Andersen Medical Fund. Both organizations presented a $1,000 donation to the parents of Lt. Micah Andersen. Presenting the donations for Post 90 was the Commander Bill Cooper (left) and the Post ALR President David Bullock (right). Lt. Andersen is in the Burn Intensive Care Unit at the San Antonio Military Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, one of the leading infectious disease control ICUs in the country. With their help, Lt. Andersen appears to have fought back the fungal infection that was the biggest threat to his life. Lt. Andersen, who was critically injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan June 1, is recovering very slowly and will begin rehabilitation as he becomes fully awake. At 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a charity breakfast will be held for Andersen and his family at the Masonic Lodge. For more information on the breakfast, contact Don Carlson at 661-2687.
