Nov. 2

Kathy Steck, 53, of Los Alamos pleaded guilty in Magistrate Court to the charge of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs. Judge Pat Casados sentenced Steck to serve 364 days of supervised probation,  and to participate in alcohol screening and treatment, attend DWI school and a victim’s impact panel, install an interlock device on her vehicle and perform 24 hours of supervised community service. The judge also ordered Steck to pay $25 per month probation fee, $20 in court costs and $221 in court fees.

Nov. 3

Lincoln Merritt, 26, of Los Alamos pleaded not guilty in Municipal Court to the charges of DWI, speeding 16-20 miles over the posted limit and failure to maintain traffic lanes. Judge Alan Kirk found Merritt guilty of speeding 16-20 miles over the posted limit and sentenced him to complete a defensive driving course and ordered him to pay a $75 fine and $46 in fees. The prosecutor dismissed the charges of DWI and failure to maintain traffic lanes.

Nov. 7

Aaron Begay, 37, of Los Alamos pleaded guilty in Magistrate Court to the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge Pat Casados sentenced Begay to serve two days for each charge in the Los Alamos County Detention Center to run consecutively. The judge also ordered Begay to pay $20 in court costs and $276 in court fees.
