July 14

Dennis E. Royer was found guilty by the Los Alamos Magistrate Court of leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to a vehicle. Defendant was ordered to pay $61 in court costs. Sentence was deferred on condition he complete the conditions of his unsupervised probation. Sentence completion will be final on Aug. 14 2014.
Conditions of probation include: Defendant shall notify the court of any change of address within 48 hours. Defendant shall obey all federal, state and local laws. Upon successful completion of deferral conditions charge(s) will be dismissed. Deferral period shall be 30 days. Defendant shall refrain from receiving any other citations during the deferment period. If the defendant fails to comply with the requirements set forth, the deferment agreement shall be forfeited. Deferred fines will be imposed and citation(s) will be reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles accordingly. A bench warrant may be issued for the defendant’s arrest.

Terrance H. Steck was found guilty by the Los Alamos Magistrate Court of driving while under the influence of liquor and/or drugs (.08 or above). The original charge was aggravated driving while under the influence of liquor and/or drugs .16 or above.
Defendant to serve in the Los Alamos County Detention Center for 90 days with 90 days suspended. Defendant must also perform 24 hours of community service and undergo a year of supervised probation. Defendant was also ordered to pay $61 in court costs.
Probation conditions include:
Defendant will meet with probation officers within seven days and maintain contact as instructed.
The defendant is to participate in alcohol education classes or treatment with at least six sessions. The defendant shall enter, participate in and successfully complete DWI school within 90 days. The defendant shall enter participate in and successfully complete the Victim Impact program within 90 days.
The defendant is to participate in alcohol education classes or treatment with at least six sessions. Give credit for 30 day program.
Defendant must also obtain an ignition interlock license and have an interlock ignition device installed on all vehicles defendant drives for one year. The defendant will pay all costs associated with installing the interlock devices as well.
Defendant will obey all laws and not be arrested, indicted, charged or convicted of any other offense. Defendant will comply with all court ordered conditions of probation. Defendant shall not possess or consume alcohol or enter a liquor establishment. Defendant must contact the probation officer prior to leaving New Mexico. Defendant shall also pay $25 a month in probation fees.
