THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM MST THIS MORNING.

* LOCATION... ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM QUESTA TO SANTA FE... TO CLINES CORNERS TO CORONA. THIS INCLUDES THE I-25 CORRIDOR FROM SANTA FE TO SOCORRO AND THE I-40 CORRIDOR FROM CLINES CORNERS TO GALLUP.

* TIMING... THE DENSEST FREEZING FOG WILL OCCUR EARLY THIS MORNING. CONDITIONS WILL BEGIN TO IMPROVE BY MID MORNING... BUT PATCHY FOG WILL LINGER IN SOME AREAS UNTIL LATE MORNING.

* VISIBILITY... COMMONLY AROUND THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE WITH BOUTS AROUND A QUARTER MILE OR LESS... ESPECIALLY IN LOW LAYING AREAS. FOG WILL BE PATCHIER IN THE MOUNTAINS... WHICH MAY EXTEND ABOVE THE FOG LAYER.

* LOCAL IMPACTS... LOCALLY POOR VISIBILITIES AND PATCHES OF BLACK ICE WILL MAKE MORNING COMMUTES HAZARDOUS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A DENSE FOG ADVISORY MEANS VISIBILITIES WILL BE FREQUENTLY REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE HALF MILE. MOTORISTS SHOULD DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION.

HIGH TEMPERATURES WARMED ENOUGH FOR SOME SNOW TO MELT ON TUESDAY... THEN SKIES CLEARED OVERNIGHT ENABLING AREAS OF DENSE FREEZING FOG TO REDEVELOP ACROSS MUCH OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO. VISIBILITIES WILL REMAIN AROUND THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE IN MANY LOCATIONS EARLY THIS MORNING WITH PERIODS BELOW A QUARTER MILE. IN ADDITION...

THE FOG WILL FREEZE TO SURFACES INCREASING THE COVERAGE OF SLICK SPOTS ON ROADWAYS AND OVERPASSES. THE COMBINATION OF POOR VISIBILITY AND BLACK ICE WILL MAKE MORNING COMMUTES HAZARDOUS. THE FOG WILL BEGIN TO LIFT AND BECOME PATCHIER TOWARD MID MORNING.
